Dr Hsieh, Hung- Chen (Paul)

Hungchen (Paul) Hsieh, PhD, is an Associate Professor and the director of the International Bachelor Program in Tourism Management at National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism in Taiwan. He received his Master’s degree from the Department of Restaurant, Hotel, and Institutional Management at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S.A. Following his great passion in food and culinary, he earned an AOS in culinary arts at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in NY U.S.A. In the journey of CIA, he acquired the core skills around food, wine, and service. Later, he pursued a higher degree and obtained his PhD degree in the discipline of hospitality, tourism and marketing at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia. His prior work experiences include hotels and the foodservice industry. His research interests are in the areas of hospitality and tourism marketing and culinary arts.

Dr Thitikan Satchabut

Assistant Professor

Teaching area: Events operation and Intercultural Communication

Dr. Thitikan Satchabut or Dr. Peace is a nature lover. She completed her Ph.D. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences from Texas A&M University, USA. Before joining NKUHT, Dr. Peace taught English and tourism-related courses at the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in Thailand for seven years. Apart from teaching, she was in charge of the school’s marketing communications and international relations. She also worked part-time as a bilingual MC and hosted several events in Thailand. Her research interests include sustainable tourism, recreation, events, and marketing. In addition, she truly enjoys Zumba, gardening, cooking, and community services.

Dr Leonardo Nava Jimenez

Assistant Professor

Teaching area: Nature-based tourism and destination planning

Dr Leonardo Nava Jimenez has 15 years of experience in the outdoors tourism industry. He gained his PhD at the Department of Tourism, University of Otago (New Zealand), with his thesis entitled “The Evolution of the Camp”. He was also awarded an MSc in Sustainable Tourism Management from the Universidad de Quintana Roo (Mexico). His research expertise encompasses the origin, evolution and current state of national camping/outdoors systems; the utilization of historical GIS, biopolitics, and assemblage theory, and camp mobility networks.
